BIRA-IASB has published research output in Open Access (OA) since the start of the movement in the 1990s.
In 2007, the number of Open Access (OA) peer-reviewed publications crossed the 40% threshold for the first time. The increase of Open Access publications is a universal trend. However, the OA percentage at BIRA-IASB is exceptionally high compared to other research institutions and universities.
In 2012, BIRA-IASB’s documentation center started emphasizing the importance of publishing in Open Access, and liaised with researchers on various OA options, resulting in a steady average OA percentage of 50% from 2013 onwards.
